one great way to say "i love you" is by baking that special someone a treat! friends, neighbors, family, the lady down the street who could stand to gain a few pounds... and, baking treats for others is a service project that the children can get into as well! let them pick something for their friends, and then help you make it!

make sure to wash hands. i'm just saying.

How Do I Love Thee?

This one is my favorite so far.
I get at least one phone call a day from my husband.
He calls me to say that he's bored at work. He calls to say the meeting sucked. He calls to say that it's raining really hard and isn't that awesome?! He calls me when something good happens, or he has a cool conversation with someone from work. He calls me when his coworker's wife, who I probably will never meet, is pregnant.
I didn't really think about it until recently, when hannah let me borrow this book about "love languages" and we all got into analyzing eachother for a couple of weeks. (it was fun. almost as fun as "color code". i recommend these books for those who are lacking in fun) I got all discouraged thinking, "how does he show his love?" ( I mean, it obviously wasn't by washing dishes...)
But then one day I hung up the phone with him for about the 5th time and I realized, that's it! He talks to me. He includes me in all of the things that he is involved in. He tells me how he feels. When he wants a buddy to chat with, he calls me. ME. He bounces ideas off me, he confides in me, he values my opinion.
It makes me feel soooo good.

Great thinking, I love how Rick does that. Sometimes it's hard to remember that he's calling me when he's bored because he loves me when I'm up to my ears in children who are ignoring me or a mountain of unfolded laundry.... but still. He does call & I get to hear his voice for a little bit.

It's good that you realized that. I bet there are lots of other women who don't even see how their husbands are giving them love when it's right before their eyes. I think it's so cute that he does that. Don't we have the greatest hubbies!?!?!?
