Erin at "A Dress A Day" tagged everyone who reads her blog. Apparently this means that I'm supposed to tag 5 more people and then post 5 things I've never posted about myself before.
1) I was a giant loser in grade school and junior high. I got made fun of ALL THE TIME.
2) I used to go to the golf course in the middle of the night with my best friend Brandi (this is in high school mind you, not LATELY) and we would use the greens as a slip-n-slide when the sprinklers were on. Usually we did this in the nude.
3) My father's genealogy line descends from Sam Houston's brother, Robert. My father is the last man in his line - when he dies the name dies with him.
4) I got married when I was 19. I have never regretted it.
5) I am LDS (Mormon). (Funny I haven't posted that. Mostly because I assume the folks that bother to read my blog already know it.)
Tag, you're it.

Karalenn and I were in JoAnn Fabrics just before Christmas and I saw this fabric and HAD to get it. I mean, embroidered cammoflauge? Is there anything better than this?
I had a straight skirt pattern with lining, and then I added a bow and a double pleat to the back, for fun. In the picture it looks as though the bow is right dead-center on my tush. It is not, people. The bow is at the top of the kick pleat, 6-8 inches above my knees. I put it on over my jeans just for the photo. That's not how I actually wear it... :)
Here's my week 2 card. My pictures are very fuzzy I'm SORRY. *bites nails* I just don't know what to do about that! And I didn't want to put this one in the scanner because I was afraid the burnt edges would crumble.
The back says "Faith in God is the most powerful force ever to be wielded by mankind." I tried for hours to think of something "powerful" that stood out to me besides God, and then I realized that I was only doing so in response to imagined peer pressure, got over myself, and did what I wanted.

I love to watch Craig draw.
I love to watch Mom sew and spin.
I love to watch Catherine make cookies.
Now that I think about it, most of the people I know do a THING that I love to watch them do, because it looks good on them. It is calm and peaceful when they do it. It's fun when they do it. It is them, loving something that they are doing just then.
The pictures are a little fuzzy but this is my first card-journal entry for the year. What's this you ask? What AM I talking about? Check it out: http://embers.typepad.com/e/ . Emily Falconbridge has all the particulars on her 'site. I think it's a creative way to journal and I bet it will be fun! The first week she encouraged us to make a card about something we did that we were proud of last week. Under my little house it says, "my apartment is clean, and organized." Big achievement for me! And it STILL IS! Yay! :)

Also, Sharon Shinn is a new fun author to read. Fantasy, and she does a good love story too. I've finally started reading Terry Pratchet and LOVE HIS STUFF! I started with "Wee Free Men" on friend Nanette's recommendation, and have read the two books following that one also. They are hilarious.
Looking forward to "Plum Lovin' " By Janet Evanovich, on the 9th. :)

Where's Connor?
Actually this picture was taken back in April but I don't have any Christmas pics to post and posting pictures is fun SO here you go. It was taken just after my Great Aunt Edna's funeral, somewhere down the coast from Ukiah on Hwy 1 at Fort....um.... well, at a Fort that was off the highway. We stopped, ate, walked around a bit. There you go.
Happy New Year! 2007 is upon us! My 10th HS reunion is this year. I so am not going.
Resolutions, anyone? Usually I make a ton of resolutions and then never do any of them. So I'm taking it easy this year. Already I'm off chocolate and I wrote a book in November so I'm feeling pretty darned fulfilled lately. Of course I want to be healthier - eat better, exercize more; and of course I would like to focus on some spiritual improvements as well - but those things are always there, every day. Erin at the "A Dress A Day" blog had a good quote: "Do today the things that you will wish tomorrow you had done yesterday." I like it. And I probably shouldn't put quotes around that because I'm pretty sure I didn't get it exactly right. Oh well.
Karalenn I hope you and your family get better REALLYREALLYFAST. Hugs at you. - Kristen
