More dress deets:

I used a (very easy) Vogue Pattern, #8615. The neckline is super wide, so I added a couple of inches to the front and the back (which has a fairly deep V) of the shoulder seams. That polka dot fabric is the lining I used - which showed through the red/orange of the dalek fabric more than I expected.

Polka-Daleks? Anyone? Hello?

The pattern also has a seam down the center front - so I cut the pattern as carefully as I could to make sure the yellow border was centered at the front and waist seams. You can see it's not perfect; thinner in some spots.
Purchased a crinoline at Unique Vintage, and all set!

Comic Con Dress, 2011

So, WOW! I thought since this years dress was specific to ONE show, and not as general as the last one, I'd be less popular this year.

So wrong.

I fully counted how many people complimented my dress last time. Yeah, I'm not above that. This year, I stopped counting after the first 30 minutes. I was getting stopped for pictures so frequently I could hardly see straight!

The really horrible bad news though? I missed out on the panel that afternoon that had Matt Smith in it. *sigh* Destiny, interrupted.

Maybe next time. :)

FABRIC ordered

PATTERN picked out

Friday begins the cutting! The hard part, is going to be matching that seam down the center front of the dress.... yikes! I'm planning on making it on the cream border between squares. Wish me luck!!
The Middle Baby Sister got married on July 1. Which was a slightly surreal experience for me. They're always supposed to be little kids, you know. I'm so much older than all of them and they were 9, 8, and 2 when I got married.
sigh.
